Solar Orbiter's mission is to take the closest ever images of the Sun, studying the Sun, solar wind and solar cycle. To reach its operational orbit of the Sun it uses flybys of Earth and Venus between its launch in 2020 and 2030, as Earth and Venus themselves orbit the Sun.
